Unlocking the Potential of Migrants in Europe: From Isolation to Multi-level Integration, Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre (27th May 2015)

Over the last decade, migration flows increased in most EU Member States, with migrants from third countries accounting for around four percent of the total EU population, according to the European Commission. At the same time, Europe is confronted with an ageing population and a shrinking workforce – which leads to labour and skills shortages that will challenge economic growth prospects.

With 2015 marking the end of the Stockholm Programme, which set the agenda for EU justice and home affairs and internal security policy from 2010.  One of the strategic initiatives to follow will be the adoption of a European Agenda for Migration with the aim of developing a new approach on migration.

This timely international symposium provides an invaluable opportunity to discuss the current challenges of migration and integration in Europe, and to reignite the debate about an EU-wide strategy to improve integration policies across Member States. The symposium offers a platform for the discussion of a better European regulatory framework, supports the exchange of ideas and encourages delegates to engage in thought-provoking topical debate whilst sharing best practice and lessons learnt.
